How do I forward a receipt to scan-ai by email?
Every account gets a unique private address in the form code@in.scan-ai.ca the moment you sign up. Forward any receipt email to it, or set a one-time auto-forward rule in Gmail, Outlook, or Apple Mail. Only mail sent to your address lands in your account.
Can scan-ai read PDF and HTML email receipts, not just photos?
Yes. Image attachments and PDF attachments are run through the same OCR pipeline as a photographed receipt. If an email has no usable attachment, scan-ai falls back to parsing the HTML or plain-text body, so inline confirmations from Stripe, Shopify, and similar vendors still get filed.
Does scan-ai connect to my email inbox or read my other mail?
No. scan-ai never logs into your inbox or scans your mail. It only receives the specific emails you choose to forward to your code@in.scan-ai.ca address. You stay in control of what gets sent over.
Does scan-ai handle Word or Excel receipt attachments?
No. Forwarded attachments are processed only when they are images or PDFs. Other file types like .docx or .xlsx are skipped. If a receipt arrives in an unsupported format, send it as a PDF, an image, or inside the email body instead.
